RIDE THE WILD Martin & Scotty’s Epic E-MTB Adventure Through Norway

What Makes the Perfect Mountain Bike Trip?
Is it the trails? The people? The culture? Or maybe the landscapes? What if we told you this trip had it all?

Over seven days, freeride legend Martin Söderström and Scott athlete Scotty Laughland set off on an epic E-MTB adventure through Norway’s southern circle. From the remote Fjords to trails just outside Oslo, this is the story of a journey that redefined what’s possible with a Light EMTB.

Starting in the remote wilderness of Oppdal, they ventured into a land where trails carved through valleys, over vast rock slabs, and into loamy forests. The journey began with the “Golden Trail,” which challenged them with steep climbs and rewarded them with panoramic views and flowing descents. By the time they reached the village for a sunset ride on Rauhovdin, it was clear this would be a trip to remember.

From there, the landscapes only grew more dramatic. In Valldal, rocky columns transitioned to scenic fjords, with trails winding along the cliffs. Each ride felt like entering a new world where the terrain offered both challenges and beauty. For Martin, with his slopestyle background, the trails became a place to explore his skills and creativity.

The Fjords called them onward, and in Sogndal, they found trails that seemed endless, winding down to the water’s edge. Each trail had its own rhythm—sometimes fast and technical, other times playful and loose. By the time they reached Hemsedal, they were camping under the stars, cooking over a fire, and reflecting on just how much they had experienced.

Camping in the wilds of Norway is an experience unlike any other. Surrounded by towering peaks and fjords, the crew set up camp under the open sky, with nothing but nature’s soundtrack to accompany them. While Martin built the campsite, Scotty prepared a fresh salmon fillet over the BBQ. With the bikes charging nearby, they cracked open beers, sharing stories and reflecting on the trails they’d conquered.

There’s something magical about cooking and sleeping in the wilderness— it’s all about shared moments and a deep connection with nature. As the fire crackled and the stars lit up the night, it became clear: these were the moments that made the journey unforgettable.

For Martin Söderström, a freeride legend celebrated for his big-air tricks and slopestyle, e-biking wasn’t something he had explored deeply—until now. Known for pushing limits on his regular bike, he was curious but cautious about how an e-bike might fit into his riding style. That all changed with the TQ-HPR50.

Lightweight, quiet, and with a natural ride feel, this game-changing motor system transformed his perception of what an e-bike could do. On Norway’s rugged and remote trails, the TQ-HPR50 allowed Martin to tackle steep ascents and ride farther than ever before, saving his energy for the epic descents he’s known for. By the end of the trip, the e-bike wasn’t just a tool for adventure—it was a new way for Martin to express his creativity and take on the wild terrain with his signature flow and style.

The trip wasn’t just about the trails; it was about the moments in between. Ferry crossings over serene waters, the constant search for Norway’s best coffee and Skolebrød, and evenings spent laughing over beers created a rhythm that matched the landscapes they rode through. Even in Nesbyn, where they met a guide to uncover the best secret trails, they found that the sense of exploration and discovery defined every mile of their journey.

Their adventure ended in Oslo, riding techy, rooty trails just outside the city—a fitting summary of everything they had experienced. Over seven days, they traveled from remote fjords to Norway’s capital, covering thousands of meters in elevation and countless unforgettable moments.

You can find all trails of the trip here.

Coming from two very different disciplines of mountain biking and usually they don’t get the chance to meet or share the trails. In this instance, the power of the Scott Voltage, paired with the TQ-HPR50 e-bike system, had brought them together. For Martin and Scotty, this journey was not just a mountain biking adventure  — it was a tribute to the breathtaking nature of norway and the new friendship that grew along the way.
