The Dream Bike: Daniela Maier’s TREK Domane+ SL

Together with TREK and TQ, ski cross athlete Daniela Maier built her own personal e-road bike: the Domane+ SL 9 AXS with the HPR40 TQ drive system. The ski cross athlete assembled the e-road bike herself – from installing the motor to wrapping the handlebar tape.

The result is a TREK e-road bike that, at first glance, is virtually indistinguishable from a conventional road bike. The lightweight 800 Series OCLV Carbon frame, SRAM Red AXS groupset and a total weight of around 11 kg deliver a sporty, agile riding experience.

The compact, integrated and exceptionally quiet and lightweight TQ drive system deliberately stays in the background. Only when additional support is needed – for example on steep climbs or during long training rides – does it provide an extra boost.

E-Road Bike Meets Competitive Sports

For Daniela Maier, cycling is an integral part of her everyday training routine. With an e-road bike, however, the ski cross athlete gains another advantage: she can control the intensity of her training precisely without sacrificing speed or the authentic feel of a road bike.

The TREK Domane+ shows that electric assistance and athletic performance are by no means contradictory. The motor and battery are discreetly integrated into the bike, the drive system operates virtually silently, and the assistance kicks in smoothly whenever it is needed.

This can be particularly beneficial in competitive sports: longer training rides, controlled intensity and riding together despite different performance levels.
